Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management
Author of the bestselling text Supply Chain Management, John T. Mentzer′s companion book Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management: Twelve Drivers of Competitive Advantage has been developed as a supplemental text for any course dealing with strategy and supply chains. Written in an entertaining, accessible style, Mentzer identifies twelve drivers of competitive advantage as clear strategic points managers can use in their companies. Research from more than 400 books, articles, and papers, as well as interviews with over fifty executives in major global companies, inform these twelve drivers. The roles of all of the traditional business functions--marketing, sales, logistics, information systems, finance, customer services, and management--in supply chain management are also addressed.
Enabling horizontal collaboration through continuous relational learning
Now that supply chain operations are facing new challenges due to the necessity of reducing costs and CO2 emissions, companies are increasingly leveraging cooperation from companies from other supply chains as a source of competitive advantage. Horizontal Collaboration has been proved an efficient tool for cutting logistic costs up to 49%. Zaragoza Logistics Center, member of the MIT-Scale Network, is publishing this book with the aim of building upon a framework of inter-organizational learning for horizontal collaboration on logistic operations. The outcome of this study is designed to help understand the relationship dynamics and managerial insights of horizontal collaboration for sustainable and profitable cooperation in freight distribution. The proposed collaborative practices are based on senior manager experiences from different industries: home appliances, automotive, retail, and food and beverage. Additionally, collaborative evidence from various successful pilot cases relevant to the distribution operations of the four industries are described, in order to illustrate the framework presented. This book fills a gap in the literature market and its insights encourages the readers to reflect on their own operational circumstances and challenges. Additionally, the book can be used as supplementary reading for master degree courses on supply chain collaboration, as well as courses in executive management.--Publisher's website.
Routing and scheduling of intelligent autonomous vehicles in industrial logistics systems
Nowadays, industries have to deal with an increasingly competitive environment. In this sense, the operational process optimization to increase efficiency is crucial. The industrial systems are presently leaning toward every potential means of automation for improved accuracy and superior time management. There are significant challenges in industrial logistics management: streamline operations, customer service, transportation cost, planning, and risk management. Hence in this paper, the IoT-assisted Intelligent Logistics Transportation Management Framework has been proposed in the industrial environment to design an optimized logistics plan, improve customer service, and reduce transportation cost. This paper concentrates on identifying the optimal routes for the directed autonomous vehicle, considering different vehicles’ necessities, renewable generations, logistic requests, and the essential transportation system. The experimental results have been performed, and the proposed method enhances the overall performance ratio of 97.8% and customer satisfaction ratio of 98.9% and reduces the cost function ratio of 15.2%, energy consumption ratio of 11.4%, and computation time of 0.19 s compared to other existing methods.
Research on the Practical Teaching System of Innovative Logistics Management Based on Internet + under the Background of Discipline Competition
Abstract In recent years, various schools have trained a large number of graduates of logistics majors. However, the quality is still far from meeting the needs of society. Students who have graduated from a large number of logistics management majors can’t find a job, and employers can’t find the right supply and demand circle of suitable talents. It is because the logistics discipline involves management, economy, computer, information, machinery and transportation. It is a profession with strong cross-cutting, strong social practice and large market demand. It plays an important role in the construction of the national economy and is of great significance for revitalizing the national economy and countering the international financial crisis. This paper mainly discusses the research on the practical teaching system of innovative logistics management specialty based on Internet under the environment of subject competition.
Logistics and supply chain management
\"Logistics and Supply Chain Management\" is a comprehensive new text that explains the fundamentals of the subject so that the student understands the 'game rules' goals and objectives when designing, planning and controlling efficient and effective logistics systems in supply chains. It also includes coverage of information technology, the impact of manufacturing and product structures on logistics and supply chain systems, and the environment. Designed specifically with the student in mind, this book is the perfect companion for introductory courses in logistics and supply chain management. The key features are: the book contains many mini cases to illustrate current practice and key concepts defined and described in the book; discussion tasks have been included to help facilitate effective learning and provide reinforcement; a comprehensive glossary has been included at the end of the book; key terms are defined at the end of each chapter; where appropriate, quantitative examples and exercises have been included to help students understand planning and control concepts and analysis tools; and, full solutions are provided in appendix.
Implications of Green Logistics Management on Sustainable Business and Supply Chain Performance: Evidence from a Survey in the Greek Agri-Food Sector
Green agri-food supply chains are increasingly attracting research interest, owing to their potential capacity for resilience against recent crises (e.g., financial, COVID-19) as well as end-consumers’ concerns on sustainability issues. In this context, this paper aims to explore the relationship between green supply chain management practices and three different performance aspects, namely, supply chain, green (environmental) and business performance, and controlling for environmental dynamism. Field research was conducted through a structured questionnaire contacted to 134 executives of firms in the agri-food sector in Greece. The results reveal that information sharing, logistics networking and transportation are the most powerful factors that impact sustainable, business and supply chain performance. In addition, green packaging is related to financial and social performance aspects. Interestingly, green warehousing and logistics emissions failed to establish any relationship with performance outcomes. The conclusions and recommendations drawn in the present study are expected to provide meaningful guidance for the supply chain decision-making process, as logistics managers are becoming increasingly aware of exploiting all available resources, knowhow and competitive advantages for attaining sustainable performance.
Research on the Application of Computer Internet of Things in Intelligent Logistics Management
The logistics industry has been ubiquitous in people's production and life, and hundreds of millions of people are enjoying the achievements brought by the logistics industry. The modern logistics era has come. However, China's logistics management mode has not kept pace with The Times well, but has shown a great lag, which makes it more difficult to promote the better development. It is hoped that the application analysis of Computer Internet of Things in this paper can provide reference for the construction of intelligent logistics management. The Computer Internet of Things technology application in logistics industry, forming logistics information, make people's life in a more convenient, more wisdom, more intelligent direction.
